I used this kit to rekey 6 Schlage locks, with very satisfying results. The extra springs and pins came in handy. Overall a truly excellent product, thinking of everything needed to perform the job, from a tools and supplies perspective. You still need a new key (or set of matching keys), and for convenience, a listing of the PINs used for that key, in order. You shouldn't spend more than $10 on that.

Now... did I really, absolutely, NEED this set? I think I could have struggled with a minimalist set of PINs, carefully re-used all the caps that came with the locks, and been very careful not to muck-up any springs... but this kit made things much nicer.
