Its seems to be getting harder and harder in finding dependable tools that can hold their own. That is especially true with drills. Like any other guy, I jumped at the opportunity to take the DeWalt DCF885L2 20V Impact Driver for a test drive. After a little over three months use, these are my thoughts.

Like other same brand tools that I own, DeWalt battery packs have an initial one to two hour charge. The batteries that came with this driver were ready to go to work. Weighing in at 3.4 lbs, and measuring almost 6" front to back, this driver is compact and easily held its own in even the tightest of spaces. Ergonomically, its a tool that's hard to put down. No more shadowing or poor visibility because this driver is outfitted with (3) LED lights with a 20 second delay after I release the trigger. The single handed loading feature is sweet. The 1/4" hex chuck accepts 1" bit tips. The attached belt clip is sturdy and has come in handy on more then one occasion.

Juiced with a surprisingly powerful 20V MAX lithium battery pack, its full throttle from the start to finish. At 3200ipm (Impact Per Minute) its no light weight. The no load speed comes in at 2800rpm. With this tool it takes practically no time for me to assemble or break down displays and rigging. When charging, the light on the charger will blink on and off during the process. The light will stay illuminated when charging is complete. Unlike other brands, it doesn't hurt to leave your battery in the charger.
