This type bath drain is required for Kohler tubs with the slot-type overflow, in our case the Archer 60x32 alcove model. Very high quality and sturdy components, although obviously with a pretty healthy price tag.

Good instructions and simple (easy for me to say now that it's finished) installation with a couple of hacksaw cuts. Like the toe-tap stopper, too. Eliminates the usual linkage, although the cartridge/washer that seals it will probably need to be replaced occasionally.

This style is also available in PVC (K-7272) which is quite a bit less expensive than the brass, and which I'm sure would function just as well. But I had to connect to an existing ABS trap, which would have required digging under the slab to make room for a PVC-ABS transition. So I got lazy and went with the brass which allowed an easy connection with the usual 1 1/2" slip-joint washer and nut.
