Here's what you give up going with this case over the Vanguard GDC-230:

-The Sportlock is made in China, Vanguard is made in USA
-Vanguard is waterproof, Sportlock isn't
-Vanguard can withstand 390 lbs. of pressure, Sportlock unknown
-Sportlock has obscenely awful chemical smell requiring a week of airing out:<
-Sportlock is filled with poorly finished metal edges on hardware eager to scratch you during handling
-Sportlock has weird soft-rubber "fins" on handle meant to act as cushioning on your hand, gimmicky and annoying
-In person the Sportlock looks like it was designed for the 80's, that's the best way I can describe it

BUT! Here's what you gain:

-The Sportlock is at least ten bucks cheaper
-The Vanguard case is 7.75 inches thick, the Sportlock is only 4.75 inches thick
-The Sportlock has about a half inch more interior length (52" vs 51.5" for the Vanguard)

Anyway, I chose the Sportlock because of how weak the Plano-Double-Scoped-Rifle-Case seemed in comparison, and because at the time I didn't know about the Vanguard case. Something else to keep in mind, the wheel-wells protrude two inches into the length of the case, and 2.75 inches into the width, I'll try to post a picture to illustrate. Also they both weigh 15 lbs.
