This faucet was a replacement for a Hansgrohe Axor model, the original we installed during a total kitchen remodel in 2002. The Axor was an okay faucet, but the spray button cracked almost immediately, flow had dropped off drastically, the head's hose had frayed and was leaking and some of the spacer gaskets had rotted away, leaving it loose and nearly useless for washing dishes off. I can't recommend the Hansgrohe, personally.I selected the Pekoe because it fit best the 1-1/2" one-hole mounting in the granite counter, but having had it in for about a week, I'd say this unit is worth modifying your existing counter for. It's that nice. I've grown happier with it with each passing day.
Installation was relatively simple, with the only snags encountered being a too-thick counter to accommodate the assorted nuts and brackets provided with the faucet. I omitted one nut, and everything went in easily, thanks to the extender wrench provided in the faucet's kit. That is despite having a very tight mounting space. It has a very solid feel and I'm optimistic that the unit will remain so given the mounting approach American Standard uses.
Operation is as smooth as glass, with the hot/cold, on/off wand perfectly damped. The tall neck of the faucet also allows the filling of tall pots and saucepans without having to put them into the sink, something I appreciate after using the low-profile Axor for eight years. The pull-out spray head also operates very smoothly, due to a metallic hose. The spray is powerful, but not overly so, and easily switched on and off.
This faucet comes highly recommended for anyone wanting an attractive, functional and reliable unit at their kitchen sink.
